Privacy Policy

Brainstorm is a native macOS app built to keep your work on your own device. Your notebooks, pages, drawings, and recordings live as plain files on your Mac and are never uploaded to us. This policy explains the limited data we do handle when you create an account, subscribe, or use the optional AI features.

What stays on your device

• Your notebooks, notes, drawings, math, and code - stored as files on your Mac.
• Audio you record for transcription and the transcripts it produces - transcription runs on-device and the audio never leaves your Mac.

What we collect

• Account: your email address and a securely hashed password, so you can sign in and manage a subscription.
• Billing: a Stripe customer and subscription reference and your plan status. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
• AI features (Pro): when you choose to use an AI feature (step-by-step solving, check-my-work, lecture notes, or flashcards), the specific text you run it on is sent to our server and to our AI provider to generate that result. We do not use your content to train models, and we do not send anything to the AI unless you invoke one of these features.
• Operational data: basic request logs and, only if you opt in, diagnostics to help us fix crashes and performance issues.

Third parties

• Stripe processes payments and subscriptions.
• Anthropic powers the optional AI features (only the text you submit to them).

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Retention and your choices

We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as required for tax and accounting. You can cancel any time from the billing portal, and you can email us to delete your account and associated records. Because your notebooks never leave your Mac, deleting them is entirely in your control.
