Privacy Policy

Brainstorm is a native macOS app built to keep your work on your own device. Your notebooks, pages, drawings, and recordings live as plain files on your Mac and are never uploaded to us. This policy explains the limited data we do handle when you create an account or buy a license.

What stays on your device

• Your notebooks, notes, drawings, math, and code - stored as files on your Mac.
• Audio you record for transcription and the transcripts it produces - transcription runs on-device and the audio never leaves your Mac.

There are no cloud AI features in the app: nothing you write or record is ever sent to an AI service, by us or by the app. Transcription is a local model running on your own hardware.

What we collect

• Account: your email address and a securely hashed password, so you can sign in and access your license.
• Billing: a Stripe customer and payment reference and your license status. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
• License activation: activating the app sends your license key and a device name so we can count activations. Note content is never part of any request, and after activation the license is verified offline on your Mac.
• Operational data: basic request logs and, only if you opt in, diagnostics to help us fix crashes and performance issues.

Third parties

• Stripe processes payments.

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Retention and your choices

We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as required for tax and accounting. You can email us to delete your account and associated records. Because your notebooks never leave your Mac, deleting them is entirely in your control.
